WINTER BARLEY
KWS CARNEVAL
KWS TOWER Barley
KWS INFINITY Barley
KWS CASSIA Barley

KWS TOWER Barley

Saffron x Retriever. Irelands most popular 2-Row variety accounting for nearly half the area sown for harvest 2016. Higheryields than Cassia (+5% on 2016 Rec List) with better disease resistance, especially on rhynchosporium and mildew. Excellent straw strength (7). KPH about 2 points below KWS Cassia. Very high TGW (60g), so high seed rates are required. Looks very well in the field this year and has stayed very clean, even where fungicide timings were delayed.

KWS INFINITY Barley

KWS Cassia x Retriever. New 2-Row Variety from KWS which was added to the 2016 Rec List for the first time with a yield rating of 102. Good lodging resistance (7) but moderately susceptible to straw breakdown. Good resistance to rhyncho (7), brown rust (7), and net blotch (7). Moderate resistance to mildew (6). Resistant to Barley Mosaic Virus. Bushel weight similar to Tower (67 / 68 KPH) which is on average 2 points below Cassia.

KWS CASSIA Barley

(Eden x Carat) x Saffron. A benchmark variety that remains very popular with growers who have become very familiar with what is a highly consistent and reliable variety. Not as high yielding as newer lines, but remains the No.1 variety for quality grain - KPH on Irish Rec List = 69.1 (top rating). Cassia is good on Net Blotch and Brown Rust, but is prone to rhyncho and particularly mildew. Very high TGW (58 - 60g). 2-Row Variety.

SPRING BARLEY
RGT PLANET Barley
PAUSTIAN Barley

RGT PLANET Barley

Tamtam x Concerto. Exciting new malting / feeding barley from RAGT that is the highest yielding candidate variety up for recommendation in spring 2017. Its also appears to have broad appeal and merit, showing promise on every continent around the globe and being commercially grown in over 43 countries at this early stage. Very high yield potential - average 106% of controls in 2 years of DAFM Trials. Straw strength similar to Propino and offers good disease resistance. Now approved by Diageo and Heineken for brewing in Ireland, and in production for malting barley now by both MCI and Boortmalt.

PAUSTIAN Barley

Zeppelin x Propino. High yielding feed variety from Sejet in Denmark. Both grain yields and quality are on par with Propino but Paustian has a stronger overall agronomic package offering (a) superior straw strength and node break resistance, (b) better disease resistance scoring higher on mildew (8), rhyncho (7), brown rust (7) and net blotch (6). Displays good early vigour after sowing and also copes well with stress in cold spring weather. Late maturing, similar to Taberna.
