(Cordiale x Biscay) x Timaru. New variety from Senova in UK which stands out as having exceptional specific weight / grain quality - average in Irish trials over past 2 seasons = 80 KPH!! Also offers a obust agronomic profile with very good overall disease resistance, straw strength and resistance to sprouting. Yields would appear to be 1 - 2% below the Diego / Avatar level but with its solid overall profile could make it a banker variety in a wet harvest.! Definitely worth considering.

KWS Horizon x CPBT W134. New introduction last autumn, it is also joint highest yielding variety (100) on the 2016 Rec List. Group 2 type, similar to Cordiale / Eisntein. Very high yield potential combined with good disease resistance and excellent straw strength. Medium to late maturing, with good grain quality and high HFN. Suited to both early and late drilling slots.
Istabraq x Lion. Joint-highest yielding variety on the current Irish Rec List (100). Good allround disease resistance package except for mildew. Would also appear to be strong on fusarium. Can be sown early (slow developing) but has only average tillering capacity. Despite this, it produced the top yields in early sown trials for past 5 years. Tall strawed and stiff, very dark green in appearance. Late maturing. Can be grown as first or second wheat. Good grain quality.
Skalmeje x Kredo. Exciting new variety that offers exceptional disease resistance combined with high yields and good grain quality. Very good septoria (7), rust (9) and mildew (9) resistance. Also good on fusarium (7). Tall strawed but with good lodging resistance. Can be drilled across a wide sowing window and in any rotational position. Candidate variety for recommendation in 2016.

Cordiale x Dover. Solid varieity thats becoming a little out classed now by higher yielding alternatives. Similar in type to Cordiale with excelent resistance to lodging (8). Ealiest maturing variety on the 2016 Rec List, so ideal for growers with large wheat acreages looking to spread the harvest. Very consistent yields both in trials and on-farm. Not idealy suited to early sowing but can be sown anytime from 1st October through to mid-february.
(LW 093W015-3 x LW 096SW35) x ZE 99Z531-28. Highest yielding variety on the 2016 Rec List (105) which is 0.61 tonne per hectare more than the old benchmark variety Sparrow. Dutch-bred, bearded variety with totally new genetic line. Moderately suceptible to lodging so needs a good PGR programme including Moddus / Cerone. Shows strong resistance to mildew, rust and fusarium. Early maturing with good specific weight (75+ KPH) of feed / milling quality.
|RGT DOUBLESHOT Wheat|
Josselin x Pasteur. High performing milling quality variety from RAGT in France. Now fully recommended with a relative yield of 102 on Irish Rec List 2016. Very good variety to tiller and shows very good early vigour for rapid plant establishment. Average mildew resistance but good on septoria, rusts and fusarium. Moderately suceptible to lodging so needs a good PGR programme including Moddus / Cerone. Excellent grain quality (78+ KPH) with very high Hagberg Falling No. but below average TGW.
(Chablis x Status) x Chablis. Long-serving popular variety on the market for almost 8 years which has proven to be a very reliable and extremely consistent performer producing high yields of good quality grain year-on-year. Short stiff straw, very good lodging resistance. Late maturing. Highest protein wheat with high hagberg and good sprouting resistance. Produces a flour of good breadmaking quality.
