|JB DIEGO Wheat|
Istabraq x Lion. High performing Soft feed wheat variety from Limagrain. Highest yielding variety on the current Irish Rec List (107). Good all-round disease resistance package except for mildew. Would also appear to be strong on fusarium. Can be sown early (slow developing) but has only average tillering capacity. Despite this, it produced the top yields in early sown trials for past 2 years. Tall strawed and stiff, very dark green in appearance. Late maturing. Can be grown as first or second wheat. Good grain quality.
Cordiale x Dover. New Hard Feed/Milling variety from KWS (UK) that offers about 5% more yield than Cordiale with improved septoria resistance and equal straw strength. Very consistent in Irish trials over past three seasons. Early maturing with excellent grain quality similar to Cordiale. Not ideally suited to early sowing but can be sown anytime from 1st October through to mid-February. Candidate variety for recommendation by DAFM in autumn 2013.
Claire x Wasmo. Fully Recommended on Irish Rec List 2012 with yield of 103. Solid performer with very good septoria (7) resistance. Prone to mildew and also needs attention for yellow rust. Tall strawed but stiff. Late maturing. Very impressive looking in the field with long ears and overall healthy appearance. Soft Wheat Variety.
(Reaper x Cadenza) x Malacca. The only fully approved milling wheat for winter sowings. Cordiale is still the preferred Hard milling variety used by Odlums and is also very popular across the UK. Very reliable variety, with good yields, great straw strength. Early maturing, with excellent grain quality - high KPH, high Protein, high HFN with very good sprouting resistance. Suitable for all rotational positions, can drill early or late. Weak on septoria.
Robigus x SJ5558) x Smuggler. New variety from Sejet in Denmark, their first commercial entry into the Irish market. Very high yield potential as proven in 2011 where it yielded 111 in National List trials. Similar straw to JB Diego but could be 4 - 5 days later to mature. Good disease resistance spectrum. Specific weight can be on the low side (74KPH). Looks a good second wheat and can be sown early. Hard wheat variety.Basic seed available autumn 2013.
