SMART System
CONVISO® SMART is an innovative weed control system for feedbeet. Two key components are working hand in hand:
SMART Breeding
SMART KWS feedbeet are the result of more than 10 years of successful KWS research and development.
Classic breeding techniques were used to identity and to integrate the tolerance to ALS-inhibitors into KWS breeding programs to make SMART KWS feedbeet the perfect partner of the he.icide CONVISO®ONE.
The feedbeet weed control system CONVISO®SMART is jointly being developed by KWS and Bayer.

Know Where Your Varieties Are Sown
- Classic sugar beet and Fodder beet varieties will be killed if treated with CONVISO ONE herbicide.
CONVISO ONE Herbicide
- Is a post-emergence herbicide belonging to the ALS-inhibitor group
- Contains two active ingredients (Foramsulfuron & Thiencarbazone-methyl)
- Has soil and leaf activity (residual and contact)
Recommendations for Spraying CONVISO ONE

- The spray timing is important for effective control. Weeds need to be growing rapidly.
- Add an adjuvant oil to improve weed control if weeds are advanced or conditions are dry and cold.
- CONVISO ONE has good activity on grass weeds and cereal volunteers – no graminicide needed.
Sprayer Cleaning
- Before spraying CONVISO ONE herbicide on CONVISO SMART Beet: A sprayer previously used to spray herbicides on cereals will need to be cleaned out with All-Clear or proprietary sprayer cleaner prior to spraying CONVISO ONE. A sprayer previously used to spray beet with conventional herbicides does not present a high risk and a general sprayer clean should be sufficient.
- After spraying Conviso One: The Sprayer should be cleaned out with All-Clear or proprietary sprayer cleaner before spraying non-tolerant beet or cereals or any other crop.
Bolter Control
- Target: Leave zero bolters in the field. If bolters appear – pull them
- CONVISO SMART is a one-time chance to clear your field from classic weed beet
Groundkeepers in following crops must be controlled
- If groundkeepers of SMART varieties sprout in the
following crop, control them with a non-ALS inhibiting herbicide. Best results are with MCPA and 2,4-D.
