BRANDIE

New crop option from Goldcrop! BRANDIE is a French-bred variety that produces very high yields of both grain and biomass under Irish conditions. Very tall (160cm) but with very good lodging resistance and excellent straw breakdown resistance, even in a late, wet harvest year. Produced 13t/ha grain yield in Goldcrop trials 2017. Treat the same as winter barley – sow in mid October @ 225 seeds per sq metre. Straw yields very high, straw quality similar to oaten straw. Watch out for slug attacks after sowing.
